The Hunger Games (2012)

The Hunger Games is a 2012 released American film of science fiction adventure genre directed by Gary Ross and is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collin. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Lenny Kravitz and Donald Sutherland.

                         

Each year in the wrecks of what was formerly North America, the evil capital of the country of Panem forces each of its 12 districts to send a teenage boy and girl to contest in the Hunger Games. It is a twisted penalty for the past uprising and the ongoing government’s pressure tactic; The Hunger Games is a nationwide televised event in which the "Tributes" must fight with one another till one survivor remains. 

Put against the highly trained Tributes who have prepared for the games their entire lives, Katniss is required to rely upon her sharp nature as well as the mentoring of the drunken former winner Haymitch Abernathy. If she's to, ever return home to District 12, Katniss must take impossible steps in the arena that balances survival alongside humanity and love against life.

                         

The film was a huge box office success and hailed highly critics as well as viewers. The performances and the movie as a whole was appreciated by all and went on to become one of the highest grossers of all time.
