Blancanieves (2012)

Blancanieves is an entirely unique picture directed by Pablo Berger. The film was made its first appearance in the theater on 2012.This is a silent, black and white, fantasy Spanish drama movie. Berger introduced the cinema as tribute to the silent cinema of European film history. Ibon Cormenzana, Pablo Berger, and Jérôme Vidal produced the film based on the screenplay of the director himself.

                   

This is a fantastic representation of the wide popular story, Brothers Grimm’s ‘Snow White’. Interestingly, the story is set in the romantic ambiance of Andalusia during the 20s of the previous century. Alfonso de Vilallonga composed the enthralling music of the movie. The film is distributed by Wanda in Spain and Cohen Media Group in US. 

                   

Starring Maribel Verdú, Daniel Giménez Cacho, Ángela Molina, Inma Cuesta and many more, Blancanieves was nominated to participate in the 85th Academy Awards under the category of Best Foreign Language film. The film was awarded the special Jury Award in the San Sebastián International Film Festival 2012, where Macarena García won the title of an ex-aequo Best Actress "Silver Shell" Award. The film is the winner of ten Goya Awards too.
