Life of Pi (2012)

This film features the story of an Indian immigrant Pi Patel, who lost his entire family while they were boarded on a Japanese ship with the animals from a local zoo, heading towards Canada, to save the lives of these unspeaking beings. Rediscovering his life Pi Patel survived with a zebra, an orang-utan, a hyena, a male Bengal tiger while adrift in the Pacific Ocean.

                                        

This computer animated movie is based on a novel written by Yann Martel named, Life of Pi. It is directed by Ang Lee and David Magee has written the screenplay for this 3D action movie. The cast and crew of the movie include Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Adil Hussain as Indian actors along with an English actor Rafe Spall and French actor Gerard Depardieu.

                                               
It is a 20th Century Fox movie with $609 million earning worldwide. The film became a commercial success with multiple nominations in Golden Globe Awards and 85th Academy Awards. Besides grabbing four awards, it also won the Best Picture Award and Best Director Awards for Lee. On 28th September, 2012 to mark the opening of the 50th New York Film Festival, Life of Pi had its worldwide premiere at Alice Tully Hall and Water Reade Theater in New York City.
