Lawless (2012)

Lawless is a 2012 released American film in the genre of crime drama by John Hillcoat. The movie is based on the historic novel, the wettest country in the world by Matt Bondurant and screenplay done by Nick Cave. The film stars the likes of Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Mia Wasikowska, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, and Guy Pearce.

                                 

Lawless is the story of three infamous Bondurant brothers, Forrest, Howard and Jack Bondurant. They made and also sold moonshine in the countryside of Virginia. The bootlegging siblings made a course for the American dream in a Prohibited time, in Virginia. In the epic outlaw tale, enthused by the true life stories of author Matt Bondurant's family in his novel "The Wettest County in the World", the bond of the three brothers and their loyalty is put to the test alongside the backdrop of the nation's most infamous crime wave. They are caught in the dangerous world of the West and encounter several mishaps along the way.

                                

The film was screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and was theatrically released later on August 29th, 2012. The film got a very good critical response and was also quite a commercially successful film.
