An adventure film based on a novel named, ‘The Hobbit’ authored by J.R. R. Tolkein. The movie is directed by Peter Jackson and stars Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, and Ian Mckellen. The entire storyline of the movie is covered in three parts.
The Desolations of Smaug and There and Back Again are the sequels which are scheduled to be released in the year 2013 and 2014 respectively. Along with Peter, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, the writers of the legendary series of ‘Lord of the Rings’, have been instrumental in writing the screenplay for the Hobit as well.
The story portrays the times in Middle Earth, sixty years before the period shown in the Lord of the Rings and the writers call it a prequel. It is a journey of a hobbit to being a burglar. A hobbit Bilbo Baggins living in Hobbinton enjoyed a peaceful life. Wizard Gandalf teamed up with Hobbit and Thorin to discover the lost treasure which is under the clutches of the Dragon Smaug.
