Set alongside the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables says an enthralling story of an ex-convict, the movie is about unrequited love, broken dreams, passion, sacrifice and redemption in a timeless testimony of the survival of the mortal spirit. Here Jackman plays an ex-prisoner Jean Valjean. He was hunted for decades by a ruthless policeman called Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. As Valjean agrees to take care of the factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, they get entangled in the turmoil in France and their lives change forever. The world’s longest running musical brought its power to the giant screen in Tom Hooper's spectacular and sweeping interpretation of the epic tale of Victor Hugo in December 2012.
Les Misérables premiered in London on 5th December 2012, and was released on 25th December, Christmas day, 2012 in the United States and eventually on other countries. The film got several awards from From Golden Globe, Bafta and Academy awards and was huge commercial and critical success.
