It is the epic story of a Norwegian explorer called Thor Heyerdahl who traversed the Pacific ocean in a balsa wood raft in 1947, along with five men, to prove that the South Americans already back in the pre Columbian times could have also crossed the sea and settle on these Polynesian islands. After they gather funding for the voyage with donations and finances, they together set off on an epic 101 day long trip across the 8,000 kilometers, all while the world was looking. Kon-Tiki tells the story of the origin of Heyerdahl's impression and the happenings surrounding the group's journey. The movie showcases their sets in the form of storms and sharks and other perils of the sea.
