Amour (2012)

Amour is a 2012 French drama film. “Amour” is French for Love. As it is a unique story of Love. Australian Film maker Michael Haneke wrote and directed the film. The film stars Jean- Louis Trintignant, Isabelle Huppert and Emmanuelle Riva. It is a co-production of French, German and Australian production houses.

                                             

The narrative love story is about an elderly couple Anne and Gorges, who are retired music teachers. Their daughter lives abroad and they take care of themselves. The movie takes a turn with Anne suffering from a stroke and getting confined to the wheel chair slowly as the surgery goes wrong leaving her one side paralyzed. Gorges promises to take care of her but at times gets impatient doing her chores. Gorges do not let the uncaring caretakers look after her beloved wife. The couples love and eternal bond is portrayed delicately in the heart-wrenching movie.

The film got the Academy award for the best foreign language Film and also won the Palme d’Or on its screening at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. It also won several other awards and was appreciated and loved by all audiences. The performances also received great acclaim from viewers’ all over the world.
