Zenne Dancer (2012)

Zenne Dancer is a Turkish Film released in 2012. The film tragi-drama directed by Caner Alper and Mehmet Binay. The cast includes the likes of Kerem Can, ErkanAvci and Giovanni Arvaneh among others in the supporting roles.

                     

The film Zenne Dancer is about an uncommon trio of Daniel, who is a German photojournalist based in Istanbul who has not got any knowledge about any Turkish value or culture. Can, is a showy, out and out, proud male belly dancer who has a lot of support and love from his family. Ahmet is another person, who is born to a conservative eastern family whose pursuit of honesty and freedom results in him meeting a tragic end.

                     

The film Zenne Dancer is inspired by true stories. The film discusses the issue of homosexuality with private and a public angle. It brings out the face of the society, which has not yet come to terms with a LGBT community. The film addresses the audience with a lot of questions on society.

The film was screened as part of the Perspectives Film Festival 2012 and was later released in theaters. The film received critical acclaim for the powerful storyline and the excellent performances of the actors.
