The deep (2012)

“The deep” movie is an intense survival at sea tale which is an incredible story about a man against nature. It is not hidden that a fisherman’s job is the toughest and dangerous job on the earth and Iceland is an island in Nordic Europe whose economy completely depends upon the fishing industry. This courageous movie released in 2012 takes place in one of the Iceland’s of volcanic fishing villages in the year 1984. The first scene of the picture starts at a rowdy bar which is full of drunken revelers in which there are fisherman and local people.

There is a hulky personality of a man names Gulli, who drinks and smokes with his sea fellow men. The sarcasm of this scene in the movie is that the extreme cold weather is intimidating more than the fight and this time was the eve time before the crew members set off to fishing expedition as usual. This is not new to the crew members of the movie as they have done it before.

Ideally, the story is very good which delivers natural performance in a strong way. It is completely based upon real incident of life in the year 1984 about a trawler that claims the lives of all crew members and saves one who is schlubby and hard drinking man. The complete movie is a powerful and elemental stuff till the end as Director Kormakur follows Gulli’s adventure from the time of arrival on ship to the miraculous survival of hero in the movie.
