Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time (2012)

An energetic, criminal theme and a gangster movie completely with an excellent performance and satisfying character set in 1980’s with a protagonist character name Choi Ik-hyuna, who is a custom office in Busan, in a pilfering goods and taking bribes like rags – to- rogues transgression story whose finely chiseled description of self-preservation, greed and depravity are supported by powerhouse perfs.

The story methodologically records the volatile alliance between a city’s top Mafioso, a corrupt official and a helmer –scribe Yoon Jong-bin who achieves a down and dirty realism but fails short of the Scorsese style gangland epics to which it desires.

The movie is about South Korea’s changing political climate and how it affects the Choi and why he decided to systematize crime. In the whole movie, there are two powerful scenes to enjoy: one is when Choi is dinning with his children when he has the idea that his arrest is ultimate. And another is at the religious ceremony of his newborn grandchild whose father is a prosecutor. Without any doubt, the character of protagonists is the top quality of the movie which has topped the box office and achieved several awards as the major blockbuster of Korean cinema.

The title Nameless gangster is not as interesting as any man could be Choi, but the subtitle Rules of the Time gives the message about the movie and the times faced by the protagonists.
