The Patience Stone (2012)

Jean-Claude Carrière and AtiqRahimi wrote the novel “The Patience Stone” that was later released as film of the same title in 2012. AtiqRahimi, himself, wrote the screenplay and directed the film. This film depicts the picture of the horrifying and sensual story of Scheherazade and a tale on the suffering of Afghan ladies.

                       

The story sets on a war torn country like Afghanistan. The film tells the tales of a woman in her thirties looks after her older husband. A bullet is inserted in her neck and makes him weak and feeble. All, including his brothers and companions, abandon him. 

                         
                      
Once, his wife decided to express her deep innermost feelings to her quiet husband that includes her dreams, her feeling, her desires, story of her childhood, her frustrations and suffering and many more. Actually she wants to make herself free from this stagnant life and suffering through these words. After a certain period of time, she suddenly discovers that she is in relationship with a young soldier.

                       

Golshifteh Farahani is excellent in her performance to make the central character of the film lively. She was titled as the best actress in Gijón International Film Festival 2012.
