Agneepath (2012)

Agneepath is an action thriller Bollywood film released in 2012. It’s a remake of the old Agneepath made by Yash Johar, and the film is a tribute to him. Directed by Karan Malhotra, the lead cast has Hrithik Roshan playing the legendary role of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan immortalized by Amitabh Bachchan. Sanjay Dutta plays the villain; other important cast includes Rishi Kapoor, Om Puri along with Priyanka Chopra.

                            

The story is set a small Indian village of Mandwa where Vijay (Hrithik Roshan) is showed by his father the path of fire or Agneepath. His life gets totally shattered when an evil drug dealer Kancha or Sanjay Dutt, kills his father. Vijay goes to Bombay with his mother and has simply one mission in his life i.e. to return to Mandwa and bring back the glory of his father. 12-yr-old Vijay is taken in the wings of Mumbai’s gang lord Rauf Lala or Rishi Kapoor.

                           

Now it is a drive of revenge with which he makes and breaks several relationships only to reach his aim. Vijay finds help in his best friend Kaali, who stands beside him at each moment on his life. Years later his disgust for Kancha takes him back to Mandwa where it all comes to full circle.

                            

The film was a huge success commercially and was one of the highest grossing films of all time in Bollywood. It received positive reviews from the critics and was nominated for all Indian major awards and also won some.
