Chasing Mavericks (2012)

Chasing Mavericks is an American drama film released in 2012. The film has been directed by Curtis Hanson along with Michael Apted. It is based on the life of an American surfer Jay Moriarity. The lead cast includes Jonny Weston as Jay Moriarity with Elizabeth Shue, John Weston, Gerard Butler, Abigail Spencer and Taylor Handley in the lead roles.

                

The film is the inspiring true story of surfing legend Jay Moriarity. In the story we see at 15 years, Jay sees that the epic Mavericks surf, one of the largest waves on the planet, is not only existent, but happens just miles away from Santa Cruz, his home, he gets help of local legend Frosty Hesson played by Gerard Butler to train him to ride and survive it. As they embark on their journey to achieve the incredible, they form a great friendship that changes both their lives, and their zeal to tame the Mavericks becomes far greater than surfing.

                

The movie did not make much of a mark on the box office and received mixed reviews from critics. Chasing Mavericks got made with the assistance of the biggest names in the surfing sphere, and features several mind-blowing real life wave shots to have been ever captured on film.
