People Like Us

Alex Kurtzman directed the drama People Like Us which released on 15th June 2012 at the LA Fest. It was his debut movie as a director. In UK and Ireland the movie released on 9th November 2012. Chris Pine plays the role of Sam who is an official bar-tender. He runs into trouble when one of his deals infringes the law.

              

On returning home, Sam learns that his estranged father has died of cancer. Elizabeth Banks plays the role of Frankie who turns out as Sam’s estranged half-sister. The sensitive relation between Sam and Frankie is highlighted. Sam soon wins the heart of Frankie and her son. When Sam reveals his identity Frankie turns him out of the house. With time, the siblings reconcile and solve their differences.

               

The music score has been directed by the Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman. Lakeshore Records released the sound track of the film on 19th June 2012. The critics gave mixed reviews on the movie. The movie depicts the differing perceptions of both the siblings. At the end of the movie when Frankie learns that her father had tried to unite Sam, and her in childhood games she accepts Sam as her brother.
