Great Expectations is a British movie based on the novel by Charles Dickens directed by Mike Newell. Featuring Helena Bonham Carter, Jeremy Irvine, Robbie Coltrane, Ralp Fiennes, and Holiday Graigner the movie was premiered at Toronto Film Festival released in the year 2012.
After seeing the movie, the audience feels that it hasn’t done the complete justice to the script. No doubt the storyline and the star casts are strong, but the director could have drilled up more from it to get the maximum output – which it fails to deliver. To simply put the plot of the movie is where an orphan suddenly turns into a gentleman with the help of an unknown backer. The flick feels like just a good looking classic illustrated runs down a little faster.
The movie didn’t do well at the box office, more or less to say it received mixed reviews from the audience. Being an average movie, it hardly got the response it expected. If you have missed watching it nothing to worry much, you can easily get the DVD now which is widely available on Blue Ray and High Definition digital. Not a family entertainment hence, can we watched with friends with sleep over night.
