Fill the Void (2012)

Fill the void is an Israeli drama film which has focused on the life of the Haredi Jewish community in the streets of Tel Aviv. The film was written and exceptionally directed by Rama Burshtein. The system of child marriage in the local areas of the country of Israel was pictured in the movie. Hadas Yaron, Yiftach Klein, Irit Sheleg starred in the dramatic movie.


Hadas Yaron played the role as Shira Mendelman; an 18 year Israeli girl is pressured to marry the Husband of her elder sister following her death in child birth. The movie passed through the incidents that happened to the 18 year old girl following the death of her sister. Declaration of the independence of this 18 year old girl is not an option in the ultra- orthodox community of the streets of Tel Aviv, where the tradition, religious law and culture are absolute.

                      

The movie demanded a very lengthy production period, which took a year for completion of casting and another year for editing procedure. Fill the void was a box office success which had a huge gross on its opening weekend. The movie was received by the critics for its portrayal of orthodox Jews and won 7 Israeli academy awards.
