The Sessions (2012)

The Sessions is a 2012 film, originally titled as “The surrogate”. It is an American drama film, both written and directed by Ben Lewin. The movie stars John Hawkes and Helen Hunt as O'Brien and sex surrogate Cheryl Cohen-Greene respectively in the key roles.

                                  

The movie is a story about a poet of 38 years who is paralyzed from his neck down due to an ailment and hires a sex surrogate to lose his virginity. Taking help from his therapists and the guidance of priest, he turns his dream into reality. They go about on a pact to have six sex sessions but soon starts to develop romantic feelings for each other. There is the element of jealousy from Cheryl’s husband, and later in film the differences clear out as O’Brien’s new female interest comes to know about Cheryl and Brien.

The film first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The film received some nominations and awards at the film festivals and was appreciated by audiences and critics, as well. The bold and matured performances by the actors were highly appreciated. The film was successful in monetarily as well with the box office.

Rise of the Guardians (2012)

Rise of the Guardians is 2012 film made in America and is a 3D computer-animated Fantasy Film. The movie is based on the book series The Guardians of childhood by William Joyce. The movie was directed by Peter Ramsey and was produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount pictures. It film features the voices of Chris Pine as Jack Frost, Hugh Jackman as the Easter Bunny, Jude Law as Pitch, Alec Baldwin as Santa Claus and Isla Fisher as the Tooth Fairy.

                       

The film tells a story of the Guardians Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and Sandman, who recruit Jack Frost to end Pitch Black from immersing the world in darkness. Rise of the Guardians, an epic adventure, which tells a story of a group of champions, all with extraordinary capabilities. As, an evil spirit known by the name Pitch puts down his gauntlet to take control of the world, the immortal group of Guardians must team up for the first time to safeguard the beliefs, hopes and imagination of all children all around the world.

                     

The movie was a great box office hit that made it mark on critics and audiences all over the world; the movie was very well received worldwide.

Caesar Must Die (2012)

Caesar Must Die is an Italian film released in 2012 it is a drama film directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani. The film stars CosimoRega, Giovanni Arcuri, Juan Dario Bonetti, Salavtore Striano, Antonio Frasca, Vittorio Parella and others in supporting roles.

                            

The film is narrative, documentary movie and is a drama within a drama. The film was set in Rome's Rebibbia Prison, where inmates are preparing to stage William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. After a competitive audition process, the roles are ultimately allotted, and the prisoners start exploring the script, finding in the tale of the society, authority and betrayal parallels that their own life stories. Hard-edged criminals, many linked with organized crime these criminals find great inspiration in dramatizing the play. We witness their rehearsals, strikingly shot in several nooks and corners within the prison, we find the inmates working through their personal struggles, both internally and with each other.

                              

The film was placed in the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival where it got the Golden Bear award. The film was also the Italian entry for Best Foreign language movie at the 85th Academy Awards. The movie was highly hailed by critics and got several accolades from critics everywhere in the film world.

Two Rabbits (2012)

Two Rabbits or 2 Coelhos is 2012 Brazilian action film directed by Alfonso Poyart. The film stars Fernando Alves Pinto, CacoCiocler, Mart Descartes, Roberto Marchese and DjairGuiherme in lead roles. The film features a lot of innovations that aren’t common in Brazilian films, including blasts, animations, extravagant special effects and other pop culture orientations..

                       

In the film, we see Edgar as a young upper-middle class man; he lives a life of crisis and in a position shared by the vast bulk of Brazilians. On one side, there is power, represented by the corrupt abusive state, and absent with their taxes before their compulsions. Shanghai (2012)

Shanghai is a 2012 Bollywood film, a Hindi political thriller directed by Dibakar Bannerjee. The film stars g Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin, Emraan Hashmi, Prosenjit Chatterjee. The film is based on the French movie called Z and a novel of the same name by the author Vassilis Vassilikos. The film faced controversies and was held up from the High court but was later released successfully.


The film is set, in a small township, someplace in India that is on its way to become the next Shanghai. A lot of money is being poured into a future International Business Park project. In the eve of the inauguration, a drunken truck driver brings down a prominent social activist.

A girl believes that it is a murder, supported by a porn film maker who claimed to have a proof that can bring the government down. A high position bureaucrat is brought in to investigate the case. Shanghai, is a political thriller, it follows the expedition of these unlikely heroes as they come together trying to find justice beneath the dark labyrinth of the Indian democracy. The film keeps you guessing till the end and is full of twists and turns.

                             

The film has been acclaimed by critics and was appreciated by audiences all over. The film was nominated for the Film Fare Awards and other awards.

Lawless (2012)

Lawless is a 2012 released American film in the genre of crime drama by John Hillcoat. The movie is based on the historic novel, the wettest country in the world by Matt Bondurant and screenplay done by Nick Cave. The film stars the likes of Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Mia Wasikowska, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, and Guy Pearce.

                                 

Lawless is the story of three infamous Bondurant brothers, Forrest, Howard and Jack Bondurant. They made and also sold moonshine in the countryside of Virginia. The bootlegging siblings made a course for the American dream in a Prohibited time, in Virginia. The film was screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and was theatrically released later on August 29th, 2012. The film got a very good critical response and was also quite a commercially successful film.

Balas & Bolinhos - O Último Capítulo (2012)

Balas & Bolinhos - O Último Capítulo is a Portuguese film. This film is directed by renowned director, Luis Ismael. J.D. Duarte, Jorge Neto, and João Pires play the characters of Cultura, Rato and Bino respectively. Jason Ninh Cao, António Azevedo, Filipe Alves, Américo Antunes, Pedro Alves, Manuel Amaro, José Azevedo, Carlos Arezes are some of others to name that cast the film. This film has made its screen appearance in 2012. This film is, in fact, is the third one of the sequel of the film series.

De Marathon (2012)

De Marathon, the Spanish movie, was released on 2012. Gerard Meuldijk and Martin Waardenberg, the writing duo, made their first appearance in this film. It was, in fact, the debut film of the director, DiederickKoopal. On October 15 2012, the film made its first appearance. The film was crowned with the Golden Calf for UPC Audience during the Dutch Film Festival.

                       

The story tells the tale of four friends stayed in Rotterdam. At their workplace, they are quite competitive and hardworking. But, in their home, they each have some sort of problem. Their life was passing out rather smoothly until the time three colleagues made their sudden discovery that the owners of the garage are liable of tax worth of € 40,000. 

They made a plan so that they can overcome the problem. Youssoef, one of the colleagues, unconsciously finds the solution. They planned to participate in the Rotterdam Marathon sponsored walk. The plot of the movie revolves around the preparation of the colleagues for getting proper shape required to participating in the competition.

Mud (2012)

Mud is an American movie that was released on 2012. Jeff Nichols superbly directs the movie based on the coming of age drama. Interestingly, he also writes the story of the film. Reese Witherspoon, Tye Sheridan, Matthew McConaughey, and Sam Shepard star the film. 


This film is produced by Aaron Ryder, Lisa Maria Falcone, and Sarah Green, whereas it is distributed worldwide by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. David Wingo composed the music of the film. On 10th May 2013, the film released on the theatres of the worldwide, however, before that the film was released on April 26, 2013.

Looper (2012)

Looper is a thriller science fiction American movie set on the theaters on 2012. Rian Johnson besides writing the screenplay of the film also directs it. Emily Blunt¸ Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt star the movie. 
The movie is packed with jarring ideas and intelligence. It narrates the invention of much awaited time travel by the year 2074. However, it is immediately banned.


Interestingly, this invention becomes rather popular among the criminals. They make use of the device as the mode of killing. They simply send their targets in the past where the loopers killed them mercilessly. The murderers rewarded with the silver bars impecunious to their targets. Interestingly, Joe, a looper of the movie, comes across his ancient self is returned in time, to be assassinated.

It was out to positive reviews in Australia, and in the US and the UK by TriStar Pictures and Film District in the US, and Entertainment One in the UK. Nathan Johnson composed the music of the film. Steve Yedlin handled the camera of the film, whereas Bob Ducsay served as the editor of the film. The film earned huge success in the box-office.
